Happy Holidays Chameleon Academy Community!
As we move into the heart of the holiday season — filled with family gatherings, festive meals, and joyful celebrations — it's the perfect time to brush up on a few small etiquette habits that make a big difference.
Here are five simple, kid-friendly holiday etiquette tips to make your celebrations smoother, calmer, and more enjoyable for everyone.
Say "Thank You" for every gift — Big or small
Whether it's toys, pajamas, socks, or a homemade treat, every gift deserves gratitude. Encourage kids to say something kind like:
"Thank you! I love the color!"
"That was thoughtful!"
"I can't wait to use this."
Wait until everyone is seated before eating.
This teaches patience and consideration. A simple rule: If someone hasn't sat down yet, the food can wait.
Use the "Holiday Voice" — Not too loud, Not too quiet
Excitement is normal, but indoor voices make the space peaceful for everyone. Try saying: "Let's use our holiday voice — calm and cheerful."
Be open to trying new foods
Holiday meals come with surprises. Kids don't have to love everything, but they can:
take a tiny "adventure bite"
politely say "No thank you"
avoid comments like "Ew!" at the table
Include everyone
Whether it's a shy cousin, a visiting grandparent, or a child who's new to the family, remind kids that kindness is the real holiday spirit. A simple act — like offering a seat, sharing a toy, or saying "Come play with us!" — goes a long way.
